This Banff helicopter elopement was a bright spot in 2020. When Via & Tyler sent us an inquiry 2 weeks before they wanted to elope, I knew it would going to be an incredible day.
They had cancelled their large wedding because of the pandemic and decided that nothing was doing to stop them from getting married. When we met them over Facetime, we clicked right away. Their spirits shone through and we quickly connected over both having corgi-cross dogs.
Via & Tyler drove all the way from Toronto to Banff with their dog Dakota and wanted to include her in the celebrations. It was their dream to get married in the mountains and have a private ceremony that was just for them. Alpine Helicopters flew over glaciers and mountaintops to dropped us off at a completely remote location in the rockies. Casey from Urban Officiant put together a beautiful ceremony and they shared personal vows that had us all in tears.
Those moments are always the most special to witness. We always feel honored to be a part of elopements. Couples feel the freedom to be themselves and express how they feel without reservation.
After the heli-adventure, we grabbed some lunch and took off to another beautiful location so they could spend some time with their dog. Dakota loved playing in the water and exploring the trails. Getting some family portraits was a top priority, and they turned out to be some of our favorite photos of the day. It was so clear how happy they all were together.
They enjoyed each in-between moment and never stopped smiling. After days like this, we can't believe we get to do this with couples. Sometimes we have to take a step back and soak it all in.
We'll never forget their incredible day.
